Brent Watts

Brent Watts has extensive work experience in the media industry, specifically with WDBJ7. Brent started their career at WDBJ7 in 1997 as a News Photographer/Editor, where they wrote, shot, and edited material for broadcast and web content. Brent also designed graphics and completed daily projects on strict deadlines. In 2003, Brent became a Meteorologist & Digital Content Producer, leading the digital development of weather content on WDBJ7. Brent produced comprehensive forecasts along with user-generated content and custom graphics. In 2004, they joined the digital team and launched the region's first weather social media accounts. Brent's innovative spirit led him to become the first in the region to incorporate augmented reality graphics and AI into broadcasts. Currently, they hold the position of Chief Meteorologist & Weather Strategy, where they continue to produce compelling content and demonstrate a commitment to innovation.

Brent Watts has a Bachelor of Science degree in Professional Communications from Old Dominion University. Additionally, they have obtained a Certification in Broadcast Meteorology from Mississippi State University.
