Payton Major

Payton Major is a meteorologist currently employed at WDBJ7 since July 2023. Prior to this role, Payton served as a radio show host for Blaze Radio ASU, co-hosting "Weather or Not," which focused on debunking weather myths and discussing climate topics from September 2022 to June 2023. Experience also includes working as a digital producer and weather anchor at Cronkite News, where responsibilities included crafting social media posts, creating graphics, and anchoring weather segments. Previous roles involve positions at the AZ State Climate Office, WEATHERATE, INC. as a weather investigator, and leadership as president of the ASU Weather and Climate Club. Payton has also interned at CNN and MadridMedia, while gaining experience as a sustainability/weather reporter at Cronkite News. Educational credentials include a BA in Broadcast Journalism and a BS in Geography with a focus on Atmospheric Sciences from Arizona State University, complemented by GIS and Atmospheric Sciences Certificates.
