Stratos Theodorou

Stratos Theodorou has a diverse range of work experience, spanning from 2005 to the present. Stratos is currently the Co-founder and Head of Engineering at WeatherXM, a company they co-founded in 2021. Prior to this, they also co-founded Ex Machina in 2015, where they served as the Co-founder and Head of Engineering. At Ex Machina, they worked on innovative approaches in the IoT revolution using open-source technologies and community engagement.

Before their ventures in entrepreneurship, Stratos worked as the Lead Android Developer at Globo Mobile from 2014 to 2015. Stratos managed a team of six developers and led the switch to a Material Design inspired UI from an Android 2.x targeted UI.

In 2013, Stratos co-founded OpenCanvas and served as an Android Developer and Mobile UI/UX Engineer. Stratos was responsible for developing the user interface and designing 16 Android applications for various clients, incorporating location-based services and real-time web content.

From 2011 to 2013, Stratos worked as a Research Associate at NCSR Demokritos, focusing on user interaction techniques, design patterns, and software engineering skills. Stratos contributed to the re-engineering of the OptiTrans Android app and developed the airport security app for the TASS project.

Prior to that, Stratos also worked as an Android Developer and Mobile UI Designer at Mobzili from 2011 to 2013. Stratos developed the user interface for 16 Android applications, mainly for cities, universities, and museums, utilizing location-based services and real-time web content.

In 2010, Stratos worked as a Freelance Android Developer and also had a brief role as a User Research Assistant at Sony Computer Entertainment Europe.

Before starting their career in the technology industry, Stratos served in the Hellenic Air Force for their military service from 2008 to 2009.

In 2005, Stratos worked in customer tech support at OTE.

Stratos Theodorou began their education in the field of Electrical & Computer Engineering at Democritus University of Thrace - (D.U.Th.) from 2000 to 2001. Afterward, they pursued a Master of Engineering (MEng) degree in the same field at Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (AUTH) from 2001 to 2008. Following this, they pursued further specialization in Human-Computer Interaction with Ergonomics through a Master of Science (MSc) degree program at UCL from 2009 to 2010.
