Paolo Ciccarese is currently the Technical Director of Data Engineering at Novartis Institutes for BioMedical Research, leading search and knowledge graph platform capabilities for the Novartis wide data42 effort. Paolo is also the Co-Chair of the W3C Open Annotation Community Group, working towards a common, RDF-based specification for annotating digital resources. With a background in computer science and bioengineering, Paolo has held various roles in research, teaching, and software development, focusing on big data search, biomedical informatics, and semantic web technologies.
