Assistant Coach, Men's Soccer/Goalkeeping at Webster University Leiden

Brian Woodward rejoined the Webster University coaching staff prior to the 2020-21 season as the program's Goalkeeping and Assistant Coach.

Woodward will be teaming up with Head Coach Michael Siener and Associate Head Coach Josh Sellmeyer, whom he played with the 2011 and 2012 seasons. During this time, the Gorloks won the SLIAC Regular Season title, SLIAC Tournament title, earning an automatic bid to the 2012 NCAA Division III Tournament.

Over the course of his Webster career, Woodward was selected All-Conference First-Team (2012), All-Conference Honorable Mention (2013), and All-Sportsmanship twice (2012, 2013). During his Webster playing career, Woodward amassed over 4,600 minutes, playing in a school-record 56 games, having started in 42. Woodward posted an overall 27-16-6 career record, becoming the winningest goalkeeper in Webster history during his senior season - breaking a record that stood for 20 years. While captaining the Gorloks in his final two seasons, Woodward accumulated a .745 Save Percentage, 1.29 GAA, and 15 career Shutouts and nearly 200 saves. After graduating in 2015, Woodward spent time with USL Championship team Saint Louis F.C. before beginning his coaching career with the Gorloks.

Woodward now returns to Webster Men’s Soccer, having spent time at both the NCAA Division II and NCAA Division I level. Woodward spent the 2017 and 2018 season as Goalkeeping and Assistant Coach at Maryville University Men’s Soccer. During both seasons, the program made appearances in the NCAA Division II Tournament. At Maryville, on the field, Woodward worked primarily with goalkeeper talent identification and development. He also ran the program’s statistical analytics and operations. Woodward spent the past 2019 season on the Saint Louis University Men’s Soccer staff, where he aided the Goalkeepers and developed the program's analytics and operations.

During his academic career at Webster University, Woodward earned a Bachelor of Arts in Economics as well as Minors in both Media Communications and Finance.

In addition to his role at Webster University, Woodward works at St. Louis Scott Gallagher’s ECNL Girls program as both an Assistant Coach and Director of ECNL Goalkeepers. He has also spent the last five years coaching at Eureka High School. At Eureka, Woodward has been a pivotal piece of the program's recent success, coaching the Wildcats to five consecutive District Titles, back-to-back State Final Four appearances in 2017 & 2018, and the 2017 MSHSAA Class Four State Title.

For the Gorloks, Woodward will be tasked with goalkeeper development, session planning, scouting, analytics, and operations.
