Gina Presson has worked in the media industry since 1985. Gina began their career as a reporter and anchor at WTVR-TV, where they reported and produced a series called "The Baby Brokers" that caught the attention of a state legislator and resulted in the passing of legislation to further protect women and children. Gina then moved to WWBT-TV, where they were a general assignment reporter/fill-in anchor with a focus on political, crime and social issues, plus religion and the arts. In 1989, they joined WEDU-TV as a weekly correspondent for the Suncoast Business Journal, reporting and producing five-minute segments for the show. In 2008, they became the Florida Bureau Chief/Reporter/Producer for Public News Service, where they reported, produced, and voiced Florida news for distribution to CBS, NPR, and independent radio stations nationwide, print outlets throughout Florida and web content. Gina also covered the Deepwater Horizon Spill and its implications for the environment, health and tourism extensively. From 2015 to 2017, they were a Graduate Teaching Assistant/USC Annenberg Graduate Fellow at the University of Southern California Annenberg School for Communication and Journalism. In 2017, they joined East Carolina University as a Teaching Instructor, Study Abroad Costa Rica faculty, Voice-Over WEDU Quest, Reporter/Producer. Since 2019, they have been a Lecturer in Digital Journalism, Faculty Adviser: NewsBreak, CanesCast, Study Abroad London Faculty at the University of Miami School of Communication. Additionally, they are the founder of Presson Perspectives, a news, documentary and Internet company with various projects.
Gina Presson obtained their High School Diploma from Marymount School in a College/University Preparatory Program. Gina then attended Duke University, where they received a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) in Public Policy Studies and Communications. Afterward, they attended Syracuse University London Centre to study English Poltics, Literature, and Theatre. In 2016, Gina Presson completed their Master of Arts (M.A.) in Specialized Journalism from the University of Southern California. In addition, they obtained an Adobe Certified Associate in Video Communication Using Adobe Premiere Pro from Adobe in December 2015 and a Notary Public certification from the State of Florida in January 2000.
