Compensation Manager (Hybrid - 1-2 days a week onsite in Irvine, HQ)
Overview:
The Compensation Manager is a critical resource for Weedmaps’ total rewards programs. This role is responsible for planning, developing and implementing compensation programs, and related policies and processes. This role is also responsible for ensuring that the company’s compensation programs are compliant with internal policies and relevant regulatory requirements.
The Compensation Manager will also research and analyze market data to understand how our current compensation programs compare, and provide guidance for changes required to ensure we remain competitive for top talent.
The impact you'll make:
- Develop, implement and administer compensation programs that align with the company’s compensation philosophy and business objectives.
- Keep track of prevailing pay rates and make sure we offer competitive compensation plans
- Ensure employee salaries comply with the current legislation and maintain pay equity
- Identify trends in Total Rewards and implement new practices to engage and motivate employees
- Draft job descriptions, job analyses and job classifications
- Track and report on compensation benchmarking data.
- Develop and evolve the company’s pay scale and structure as needed.
- Ensure that the company’s pay scale is compliant with federal, state and local laws and regulations
- Monitor the effectiveness of existing compensation practices and recommend changes that are cost-effective and consistent with the company’s compensation philosophy.
- Review new positions in anticipation of recruitment to ensure appropriate classification.
- Use published or conduct ad-hoc surveys to obtain and analyze market pay data
- Develop and manage company-specific compensation range data
- Review role relevant compensation data and recommend appropriate pay levels for current employees and new hires
- Review compensation data to ensure internal peer equity
- Provide guidance on pay decisions, policy interpretations, and job evaluations when needed
- Help design creative solutions to specific compensation-related programs and incentive plans
- Develop processes and methodologies for compiling, preparing and presenting data.
- Manage the participation in salary surveys and monitor salary survey data to ensure corporate compensation objectives are achieved
- Review manager/employees requests for classification review and makes classification/pay level determinations
- Collaborate with HRBPs, recruiters, managers and employees to evaluate jobs and document findings
- Communicate compensation data with relevant stakeholders as needed
- Manage and execute projects such as compensation surveys and analysis
- Responsible for building, maintaining and auditing salary bands and job grades
- Manage salary and bonus programs across the organization
- Conduct regular audits to ensure equal and fair compensation throughout the organization
- Prepare and maintain compensation reports, analytics, and compensation data integrity within the HRIS
- Partner relevant stakeholders to create Total Rewards statements and communications to inform and educate business leaders across the organization about pay practices and programs
What you've accomplished:
- Minimum 5 years of progressively responsible experience in executing and managing employee compensation programs
- Knowledge of all federal, state and local regulations and compliance requirements related to employee compensation including base and incentive compensation
- Strong analytical skills and ability to interpret and communicate data
- Prior experience building compensation models and structures
- Prior experience gathering and analyzing market data for compensation and using tools like Radford.
- Computer proficiency and technical aptitude with advanced skills using Microsoft Excel
- Excellent time management skills and ability to plan and set priorities
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Strong interpersonal skills in dealing with stakeholders across all levels
- Strong analytical skills
- Ability to gather and interpret raw data, document and analyze findings and develop appropriate recommendations
- Ability to collaborate effectively with other members of HR
- Experience working with virtual teams
- Strong customer service orientation
- Strong ability to build trust and maintain confidentiality of information

The base pay range for this position is $128,000 - $145,000 per year
