Jeffrey Bigman is an experienced educator and facilitator with a strong background in supporting LGBTQ+ youth and delivering inclusive curricula. Currently serving as a Middle School Humanities Teacher and Upper Elementary Assistant at Wellan Montessori School, Jeffrey previously held the role of Lead Facilitator and Intern at Side by Side, where responsibilities included curriculum design and mental health support for LGBTQ+ youth. As Unit Head at Camp Aranu'tiq, Jeffrey led counselors and provided critical support to transgender campers. Additional experience includes serving as an Assistant Teacher at Richmond Montessori School, where Jeffrey supported diverse learners and maintained an engaging Montessori environment, and tutoring high school students at Upward Bound Tutoring. Jeffrey holds a Bachelor's degree in English Literature from Wesleyan University and participated in a social sciences program at the University of Amsterdam.

Wellan Montessori School (formerly Newton Montessori School) is an independent, coeducational school serving more than 175 families and 250 children ages 15 months through grade 8. Here, you’ll find a dynamic community of learners, where a diverse group of children, families, faculty and staff are united by their common goal of empowering children to explore, learn and grow. Rooted in Montessori philosophy and supported by experiential learning, our approach holds a deep respect for the individuality of each child and a strong belief in their potential. Wellan Montessori accepts children age 15 months through 8th grade.
