Farrah Nazir

Insights & Learning Lead at Wellcome Trust

Farrah Nazir is the Insights & Learning Lead at Wellcome Trust. Prior to this, they worked at the British Science Association for five years, where they were Engagement Manager (National). In this role, they were responsible for managing, developing and establishing national programmes & initiatives to support public engagement with science.

During their time at the BSA, Farrah played a pivotal role in shaping & influencing the organisation's new strategic vision, and proactively strengthened its profile & reputation amongst external stakeholders, resulting in new partnerships. Farrah also successfully implemented a strategic approach to redefining & refreshing the BSA's national programmes, including the British Science Festival & Citizen Science activities. In addition, they formalised and Chaired the UK Science Festival Network, overseeing the strategy & development of the network's brand, and successfully brokered partnerships which resulted in a new funding opportunity for members. Finally, they managed a successful nationwide pilot grant scheme in partnership with the Royal Society of Chemistry to engage underserved audiences, resulting in a second stage, scaled up programme.

Farrah Nazir has a MSc in Evolutionary Anthropology from [Durham University and a BSc in Psychology from Newcastle University.

Farrah Nazir reports to Nyoaka Squire, Associate Director, Culture, Equity, Diversity & Inclusion. They are on a team with Diego Baptista - Head, Research & Funding Equity, Jacqueline Wabara - Head, Organizational Culture, and Sarah Christie - Organisational CEDI Lead. A direct report to Farrah Nazir is and Kasifa Khalid - Best Practice & Advising Manager.
