Rick McDonough has extensive work experience in various legal roles. Rick began their career in 1985 as a Senior Attorney at Recognition, a technology company. At Recognition, they negotiated and drafted agreements related to computer hardware, software licensing, and service agreements. In 1995, they joined BancTec as General Counsel, where they continued to negotiate and draft agreements with various entities.
In 2002, McDonough started their own legal firm, Richard McDonough, Attorney-At-Law. During this time, they provided interim General Counsel and Associate General Counsel services to telecom and banking software companies. Rick also designed and implemented legal and contract processes for a telecom start-up company.
McDonough then joined CompuCom Systems, Inc. in 2003 as VP, General Counsel, and Secretary. Rick held this role for 12 years, overseeing legal affairs for the company and its subsidiaries in multiple countries.
Since 2016, McDonough has been operating McDonough Legal Services, PLLC, where they offer on-call legal services to businesses without in-house legal departments. Their areas of expertise include technology licenses, contract negotiation, litigation management, intellectual property management, employment matters, real estate leasing, and mergers and acquisitions.
In 2022, McDonough joined Wellfit Technologies, Inc. as General Counsel and Secretary. Wellfit is a FinTech company specializing in providing financial software for the dental industry.
Rick McDonough received a Bachelor of Business Administration (B.B.A.) degree from the University of Michigan - Stephen M. Ross School of Business. Rick also earned a Doctor of Law (JD) degree from the University of Detroit Mercy School of Law.
