Martin Sherriff

Head of the Middle East at Welligence Energy Analytics

Martin Sherriff has a diverse work experience spanning different industries and roles. Starting in 2009, they worked as a Sales Assistant at Marks and Spencer, where they gained skills in customer service, complaint handling, and department organization. During this time, they also took on a leadership role in the Food Department.

In 2011, Martin worked as a UCAS Tour Guide at the University of Southampton, showcasing the university to prospective students. Martin also worked as a Gardener at Rodda's Clotted Cream, where they prepared the premises for a visit by Prince Andrew and later prepared the owner's garden for a wedding reception.

In 2013, Martin took on the role of a Technical Assistant at Wheal Jane Laboratory. In this position, they specialized in preparing solutions, equipment, and analyzing rock samples using various methods and equipment.

In 2014, Martin joined IHS Markit as a Senior Researcher, where they played a key role in constructing the IHS Vantage product, a multi-million dollar oil and gas asset valuation tool. Martin conducted analysis, research, and modeling related to supply and costs for upstream oil and gas assets. Martin's role evolved into a Research Analyst Manager, where they managed and coordinated teams working on upstream oil and gas databases.

At the same time, Martin also worked as a Demonstrator at the University of Southampton, teaching geology students structural geological mapping and preparing them for independent mapping projects.

Most recently, Martin is serving as the Head of the Middle East at Welligence Energy Analytics starting from October 2021. In this role, they led the build of the Welligence MENA subscription database and supported sales efforts by presenting content and engaging with clients. Martin also oversaw the construction of more than 260 upstream discounted cash flow models and written reports.

Throughout their work experience, Martin has demonstrated strong communication, leadership, technical, and organizational skills.

Martin Sherriff pursued their education at the University of Southampton from 2010 to 2014, where they obtained a Masters of Science (MSci) degree in Geology/Earth Science, with a focus on General studies.
