Daniel L. Fortes

Daniel L. Fortes, MD, FACS, serves as the Thoracic Surgery Practice Lead and Chief of Thoracic Surgery at Wellstar Health System since August 2021. Previously, Daniel held the position of Assistant Professor of Surgery at Dell Medical School at The University of Texas at Austin from August 2015 to August 2021 and founded Texas Thoracic Surgery Specialists in December 2020, continuing until July 2021. Before that, Daniel worked as a Thoracic Surgeon at Cardiothoracic & Vascular Surgeons, PA from January 2014 to October 2020, and at CVTSA from August 2009 to December 2013. Daniel's educational background includes an MD from Universidade Federal do Rio de Janeiro, a General Surgery Residency at UT Health San Antonio, and a Thoracic Surgery Residency at Mayo Clinic Alix School of Medicine, with current studies towards an Executive MBA at Kennesaw State University.
