Birkir Larusson

Birkir Larusson serves as the Head of Enterprise Operations at Welo Data since May 2024. Prior to this role, Birkir held the position of Senior Director at Appen from July 2021 to May 2024, overseeing global delivery teams and leading strategies for artificial intelligence data sourcing and annotation. Birkir also worked as a Senior Consultant at Blue Canyon Partners, Inc., addressing unstructured challenges for Fortune 500 firms and engaging with senior executives. From 2009 to June 2019, Birkir was the Head of Section at DNV GL, managing a comprehensive energy efficiency program. Earlier roles include Assistant Operations Manager and Energy Engineer at the Institute for Public Policy & Social Research and Design Engineer at VSB Verkfræðistofa ehf. Birkir holds an MBA from The University of Chicago Booth School of Business and dual Bachelor of Science degrees in Economics and Mechanical Engineering from Michigan State University and Michigan Technological University, respectively.
