Andy Emery

Principal Marine Geoscientist at Wessex Archaeology

Andy Emery has extensive experience in the geosciences field, with a focus on marine geoscientific research. Andy is currently working as a Principal Marine Geoscientist at Wessex Archaeology since March 2023. Prior to this, they worked as a Project Geophysicist at Gavin & Doherty Geosolutions from December 2020 to March 2023. Andy also has experience as a PDRA in Seabed Sediment Dynamics at the University of Hull, a Research Assistant in Energy Transition at the University of Leeds, an Independent Geopressure Consultant at AREGeoPressure, a Geologist at Ikon GeoPressure, and a Summer Intern (Geology) at ConocoPhillips. These roles have allowed him to develop expertise in pore pressure evaluation, geophysical research, and studying low-carbon energy sources like offshore wind and geothermal energy.

Andy Emery completed their education at the University of Leeds. Andy obtained their Bachelor of Science (BSc) degree in Geological Sciences from 2006 to 2009. Later, from 2010 to 2011, they pursued a Master of Science (MSc) degree specializing in Structural Geology with Geophysics. Finally, they completed their Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree in Geology and Geophysics, focusing on Late Quaternary landscape evolution from 2016 to 2020.
