Joe Barco

Joe Barco has extensive work experience in the technology industry. Joe currently holds the position of Vice President of Engineering at West Cary Group, starting in 2022. Prior to this, they worked at DSD Partners from 2019 to 2022, where they served as the Director of Technology, responsible for software development, architecture, infrastructure, security, networking, and data. At Capital One, Joe held the role of Director of Software Engineering from 2016 to 2019, specifically in the Commercial Technology division. Joe also worked at Capital One from 2000 to 2013, initially as the Director of Software Engineering in Risk Management and later transitioning to the role of Senior Software Development Engineer. In their early career, Joe worked as a Microsoft .NET Application Developer at Circuit City from 1997 to 2000, where they developed software and workflow systems to improve customer service.

Joe Barco obtained a Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Finance and Management from Virginia Tech - Pamplin College of Business, attending from 1991 to 1995. Joe then pursued further education at Virginia Commonwealth University, where they earned a Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree in Information Systems, studying from 1997 to 2000. Additionally, in March 2019, Joe obtained the AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner certification, although the institution granting this certification is not provided.
