Laila Sales has a diverse work experience in the field of arts education. Laila is currently the Director of Fine, Performing, and Culinary Arts at West Hempstead Union Free School District since July 2022. Prior to this role, Laila co-founded and served as the CEO of GRITTY CHERRIES INC, an undisclosed period. Laila also worked as a District Dance Instructor at LAWRENCE UNION FREE SCHOOL DISTRICT from September 2005 to June 2022. Laila's previous experience includes being a Dance Instructor at NYC Department of Education from August 2001 to August 2005 and a Graduate Student Instructor in the Department of Dance at the University of Michigan - School of Music, Theatre & Dance from January 1998 to April 1999.

Laila Sales has an extensive education history in the field of education and dance. In 1994, they attended SUNY Brockport, where they earned their Bachelor of Fine Arts (B.F.A.) degree in Dance in 1997. Following that, they pursued their passion for dance and choreography by enrolling at the University of Michigan - Rackham Graduate School. There, they achieved a Masters of Fine Arts degree in Choreography and performance between 1997 and 1999.

Continuing their education, Laila Sales enrolled at Teachers College, Columbia University in 2003. Laila earned their Masters of Arts degree in Clinical, Counseling and Applied Psychology in 2006. Laila then returned to Teachers College, Columbia University for the third time in 2020, embarking on their Doctor of Education (EdD) in Dance Education, a program they are currently undertaking.

In 2015, they attended LIU Post, where they pursued an Advanced Certificate in Administrative Leadership. Laila completed the program in 2017, specializing in School Administration/ District and Building Leader.
