Desmond O'Shea

Desmond O'Shea is an experienced professional in quality operations and biotechnology, currently serving as Quality Operations Manager and Interim Head of Quality at West Pharmaceutical Services since September 2019. O'Shea has a long tenure at Amgen, beginning in April 2010 as a QC Manager for Separation Sciences, with previous roles including Manager and Senior Quality Control Associate, where responsibilities encompassed GMP QC testing of pharmaceutical products and leading projects for laboratory information systems. Additionally, O'Shea co-organized the Pint of Science festival in Ireland and co-founded scrazzl Ltd, a technology company. O'Shea's early career includes a position as a Research Scientist at MedImmune, where work focused on high-throughput assay development. Academic qualifications include a PhD in Biochemistry from University College Cork and a Bachelor's degree in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology from the same institution.
