Lara Foster

Lara Foster is a Board Member at West Virginians for Affordable Health Care. Lara has been with the organization since June 2018 and in their current role, they provide consulting services to West Virginians regarding their health care options.

Prior to joining West Virginians for Affordable Health Care, Lara was with the WEST VIRGINIA HEALTHY KIDS AND FAMILIES COALITION as an Eastern Regional Organizer. In this role, they were responsible for coordinating outreach and engagement activities in the eastern region of the state.

Before their work in advocacy, Lara was with Two Rivers Treads, a local business in West Virginia, where they served as a sales associate and outreach coordinator. In this role, they developed relationships with customers and worked to increase the visibility of the store in the community.

In addition to their work in the private sector, Lara has also worked in the nonprofit sector. Lara spent two summers working with World Vision USA as a construction support associate for their Appalachian Missions Program. In this role, they helped build homes for families in need in the Appalachian region.

Lara has also served as a faculty co-advisor for a semester abroad program in Europe and as an interim assistant professor of sport management. Lara holds a bachelor's degree in communication studies from Alderson Broaddus University.

Lara Foster has a Master of Arts in Applied Social Research from West Virginia University and a Master of Science in Sport Managment from West Virginia University. Lara has a Bachelor of Arts - Bachelor of Science in Sociology and Exercise Science from West Virginia Wesleyan College. Lara is certified by the American Heart Association as a First Aid/CPR/AED Instructor, by the Occupational Safety & Health Administration as an OSHA-10 General Industry Safety and Health Instructor, and by the West Virginia Department of Education Public Service Training as a Fire Fighter 1 NFPA and Fire Fighter 2 NFPA. Lara is also certified as an Emergency Medical Technician, Basic by the National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians.
