Western AgCredit is part of the nationwide Farm Credit System established in 1916. Western AgCredit, ACA is made up of two subsidiaries, Western AgCredit, FLCA and Western AgCredit, PCA. These entities are collectively known as "the Association" and also referenced as simply "Western AgCredit." Western AgCredit is an independent, cooperative organization owned and controlled by the farmers and ranchers who borrow from it. A Board of Directors, elected from the member-borrowers along with two outside directors, is responsible for representing the best interests of the organization and its borrowers.
