Brent Sessions

Brent Sessions has a background in various roles related to risk management, compliance, and information technology. Brent started their career at The University of Arizona as a Network Operator, Dispatcher, and Trouble-line Operator. Brent then worked at Systex, Inc as a Systems Support specialist and later as a Network Manager. After that, they joined the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Disease (NIAID/NIH) as a Network Administrator. In 2003, they became the Regional Cyber Security Officer and Networking at Western Area Power Administration (WAPA), where they implemented and maintained the Cyber Security Program. Brent then served as a SCADA Manager, overseeing the EMS Support Team and managing concurrent projects. In 2010, they became the Reliability Compliance Manager at WAPA, responsible for developing and implementing compliance-related processes. Brent also served as the (Acting) Regional Information Officer and VP Risk and Reliability Compliance at WAPA, providing oversight and serving as a principal advisor on risk and compliance issues. In 2014, they joined Sequriti, LLC as the President and later returned to WAPA as the VP Risk and Reliability Compliance, where they managed the Enterprise Risk Management and Reliability Compliance Program. Overall, Brent Sessions has a diverse background in risk management, compliance, and information technology.

Brent Sessions obtained a Master of Science (MS) degree in Telecommunications Management from the University of Maryland Global Campus, where they studied from 1994 to 2001. Prior to that, they completed their Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree in General Studies with a focus on Music, English, and Computer Science at the University of Arizona, attending from 1987 to 1992. In terms of additional certifications, Brent Sessions has obtained the following: SANS ICS Professional certification from SANS Institute in January 2021, GIAC Certified Incident Handler certification from SANS in October 2005, and CISSP certification from ISC(2) in March 2002. Brent also holds a CCNA certification from Cisco, although the specific details of when they obtained it are not available.
