Alex Gary

Alex Gary is the current Director of Athletics at Western Carolina University. Prior to their current position, Gary served as the Senior Associate Athletic Director at Oregon State University from September 2017 to April 2020. Gary has also held the positions of Associate Athletic Director at the University of Maryland from June 2014 to September 2017 and Associate Director of Athletic Development at the University of Michigan from September 2010 to June 2014. Additionally, Gary worked as the Assistant Director of Annual Giving at UNC Charlotte Athletic Foundation from February 2009 to September 2010 and as a Professional Baseball Player for the Seattle Mariners from May 2005 to November 2006.

Alex Gary completed a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration and Management at Virginia Commonwealth University before completing a Masters of Business Administration in Sports Marketing and Management at UNC Charlotte Belk College of Business. Alex is currently pursuing a business degree at Western Carolina University.

Alex Gary works with Richard Starnes - Provost & Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs, Shea Browning - General Counsel, and Craig Fowler - Chief Information Officer. Alex Gary reports to Kelli R. Brown, Chancellor.
