Katharine Mershon

Katharine Mershon is an Assistant Professor of Philosophy and Religion at Western Carolina University since January 2021, with prior experience as a Visiting Assistant Professor of Religion at Whitman College from June 2018 to August 2020. In this role, Katharine taught various courses, including topics on religion in popular culture and Jewish identity in literature. Katharine's academic background includes a Ph.D. in Religious Studies and an M.A. from the University of Chicago, complemented by a B.A. in English Literature and Religious Studies from Lake Forest College. Additional professional experience includes teaching college writing skills at the University of Chicago and serving as a lecturer at Lake Forest College, along with editorial experience at the University of Chicago Press.
