Kelly Tornow

Kelly Tornow currently serves as Associate General Counsel and Chief Compliance Officer at Western Carolina University since October 2021, after previously holding the position of Assistant General Counsel. Prior experience includes serving as Associate General Counsel for the NC State Board of Elections and as Director of North Carolina Policy for the Center for Responsible Lending, where responsibilities included legislative strategy development to safeguard consumer protections. Kelly's extensive background in legal research and policy analysis was further established during time at the NC General Assembly, where roles included Staff Attorney and Legislative Analyst. Educational qualifications include a Doctor of Law (J.D.) from North Carolina Central University School of Law and a Bachelor of Arts in Public Policy Analysis and Political Science from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
