Tom Spendlove currently serves as an Assistant Professor of Practice at Western Carolina University, focusing on Engineering Technology courses since August 2021. In addition, Tom has been a Contributor for ENGINEERING.com since July 2013, writing about the inspiration behind engineering innovations. As a Section Officer at SAE International since 2011, and formerly an Engineering Teacher at Davison High School, Tom taught Project Lead the Way curriculum courses. Tom's previous experience includes a long tenure at Baker College as an Assistant Professor, where responsibilities included mentoring students and managing various programs in engineering technology. Tom also worked as a Product Design Engineer at Delphi Automotive Systems from 1995 to 2005 and interned at Tomco Plastics during 2003-2004. Tom holds a Master's degree in Engineering Science with a focus on Management of Technology from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute and an undergraduate degree from Kettering University.
