Michael Grobis is an accomplished physicist with extensive experience in both academic and industry settings. Grobis served as a Postdoctoral Fellow at Stanford University Physics Department, conducting ultra-low temperature experiments related to quantum phenomena. After that, Grobis worked at Hitachi GST as a Research Staff Member, leading activities in bit patterned media recording and developing error correction schemes for hard disk drives. As a Senior Manager at HGST, a Western Digital company, Grobis advanced the understanding of magnetic recording physics and managed various initiatives related to hard disk drive technologies. Currently, Grobis holds the position of Distinguished Engineer/Senior Director at Western Digital, overseeing the device physics group focused on emerging non-volatile memory technologies. Grobis earned a Ph.D. in Physics from the University of California, Berkeley, and an A.B. in Physics from Harvard University.
