Community Forester & Treevitalize Pittsburgh GIS Coodinator at The Western Pennsylvania Conservancy

Brian Crooks is currently an arborist at Overstory since March 2023. Prior to that, Brian held the title of Community Forester & TreeVitalize Pittsburgh GIS Coordinator at The Western Pennsylvania Conservancy since June 2015. In addition, Brian has been serving as the Chairperson at Shade Tree Commission since November 2018. Brian holds a graduate certificate in GIS and a Bachelor's degree in Forest Science from Penn State University.

The Western Pennsylvania Conservancy

The Western Pennsylvania Conservancy enhances the region’s quality of life by protecting and restoring exceptional places. A private nonprofit conservation organization founded in 1932, WPC has helped to establish 11 state parks, conserved more than 260,000 acres of natural lands and protected or restored more than 3,000 miles of rivers and streams. We provide our region with clean water, healthy forests and wildlife and thousands of acres of natural areas free for all to explore. The Conservancy owns and operates Fallingwater, a symbol of people living in harmony with nature. In addition, WPC enriches our region’s cities and towns by planting and maintaining 130 community gardens and greenspaces with the help of thousands of volunteers each year. We have planted more than 105,000 trees. The work of the Western Pennsylvania Conservancy is accomplished through the support of more than 11,000 members.
