Clinical Network Director- Surgery at Western Sydney Local Health District

Danette Wright has a diverse work experience in the field of surgery and healthcare. Danette is currently working as the Clinical Network Director- Surgery at Western Sydney Local Health District, where they also hold the roles of Staff Specialist General and Colorectal Surgeon and Head of Department General Surgery. Prior to this, they worked as a Surgical Superintendent at the same hospital. Danette also has experience as the Co-Director of Prevocational Education and Training at Blacktown and Mount Druitt Hospital. Danette has further gained expertise as a Senior Clinical Fellow at Salford Royal Foundation Trust and as an ANZTBCRS Clinical Colorectal Fellow at Austin Health and Westmead Hospital. Danette began their career as a General Surgical Registrar at the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons. Additionally, they have worked as a Senior Research Fellow at the University of Sydney.

Danette Wright received their Bachelor of Medical Science from the University of Sydney in 2000. Danette then pursued their Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) degree at UNSW from 2001 to 2005. Later, they completed their Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Surgery at the University of Sydney from 2015 to 2018.
