Kathleen Kwan

Kathleen Kwan is currently the University Secretary at Western University. Prior to this, they worked as the University Secretary at another bicameral governed institution. In this role, they were responsible for the administration and stewardship of the Board of Governors and Senate, as well as all of their 21 committees and subcommittees. Kathleen provided strategic advice relating to all Board matters, including legal advice on administrative and governance subjects.

Through members of their team, they also administered all personal data issues and requests for information (submitted in accordance with Ontario's privacy legislation), as well as coordinated the University's 24 convocation ceremonies.

Kathleen was the administrative officer for senior executive searches/reviews, as well as the executive officer for the Presidential Review, and supported the annual review by the Board of the President’s performance.

Kathleen Kwan is a qualified lawyer who has a Bachelor of Laws from the University of Toronto. Kathleen has also completed the Qualified Lawyers Transfer Test from the Solicitors Regulation Authority, as well as the Senior University Administrator's Course from the University of Manitoba. In addition to their law degrees, they also have a Bachelor of Science from the University of Toronto. Kathleen is certified by LinkedIn in Building Resilience as a Leader, and by the Law Society of Ontario in Barrister and Solicitor. Kathleen is also certified by the Law Society of England and Wales in Solicitor.
