Mohamed Ayoub currently serves as the Director of City Planning and Building, as well as the Director of City Planning for the City of Westland since March 2019. In addition to these roles, Mohamed is a lecturer at Eastern Michigan University and has previously held positions such as Research Assistant for the MI Zoning Atlas at Taubman College of Architecture + Urban Planning, MOOC Design Assistant for the Future of Mobility program at the University of Michigan's Rackham Graduate School, and Diplomacy Lab Researcher for the U.S. Department of State's Embassy in Beirut. Prior experience includes working as a Senior Planner and Planner for the City of Dearborn, as a GIS Assistant for the Michigan Department of Transportation, and as a Math and Reading Tutor at Performance Academies. Mohamed holds a Master's in Public Affairs from the University of Michigan - Gerald R. Ford School of Public Policy and two degrees from Wayne State University: a Master's in City/Urban, Community and Regional Planning and a Bachelor of Arts in Urban Studies/Affairs.
