Scott Sturm

Scott has over 25 years of experience working in the Western US Coal Industry. Scott started his career working in engineering and operational roles with Powder River Coal Company and Rio Tinto. Scott completed a Bachelor of Science Degree in Mining Engineering at Montana Tech.

Scott joined Westmoreland in 2007 as a Production Superintendent at the AbsalokaMine, Montana where he later became the Production Manager. In 2012 Scott accepted the General Manager role at the KemmererMine, before transitioning to a corporate role as Vice President of Sales and Marketing in 2015. Scott has a background that links strong operational knowledge with corporate requirements and used his skillset to establish valuable relationships with all Westmoreland’s customers and stakeholders. In 2019, Scott was promoted into the role of Chief Commercial Officer.

Scott has served on various regional MineAssociation Boards and is the current President of the Rocky Mountain Coal Mining Institute.
