Xu Zhang

Xu Zhang is an investment professional in the Beijing office. Prior to WestSummit Capital, Xu was Director at Tembusu Partners, a Singapore-based pan-Asia VC house focusing on early and growth stage TMT and Consumer investments. He was involved in the full investment cycle across several funds. He has led investments in Kete (830971), Danlex (acquired by Maiquer 002719), Biotegether, and 84100.com. He has also co-led investments in Tanyuan Tech (603133), OOB (833573), Ednovation (exited to CDH), Longjing Tech etc. Under Tembusu umbrella, Xu has taken lead to acquire a China Growth Fund of The Abraaj Group and as Head of China to oversee portfolio value creation and exit.

Previously, Xu also has experience in private equity, Fund of Funds, and M&A advisory. Xu started his career in Corporate & Investment Banking at SPD Bank, where he worked with 20+ companies and deployed over a $1 billion in capital. Xu also successfully founded a startup – Haqilai Technology, which is China’s first online B2B marketplace for draught beer.

Xu was awarded the Nanyang Scholarship and completed MBA from Nanyang Technological University, Singapore.
