Jon Jacobs has a strong background in the automotive and battery industries. Jon currently serves as the Chief Commercial Officer at Westwater Resources, a company focused on developing natural graphite anode materials for cell-makers and EV OEMs. Prior to their current role, Jacobs was the Chief Marketing Officer at Solid Power, a leading producer of sulfide electrolyte materials for all-solid-state rechargeable batteries for electric vehicles.
Before entering the battery industry, Jacobs held various positions at Wildcat Discovery Technologies, a small business that partners with companies in the battery supply chain to develop improved battery materials. Jon'srole as Vice President of Business Development at Wildcat involved accelerating the development of battery materials using proprietary high throughput technology.
Jacobs also has experience in sales and marketing. Jon was the Global Director of Sales and Marketing at Material Sciences Corporation, where they managed a team responsible for sales to OEMs and tier 1 companies in automotive, electronics, and consumer appliance markets. Prior to that, they worked as the Director of Marketing at The Solutions Group Inc., a software company specializing in custom database solutions.
In the early stages of their career, Jacobs worked as a Product Design Engineer at Ford Motor Company and as a Senior Project Engineer at General Motors. During their time at Ford, they led a Product Attribute Team focused on fuel economy and weight reduction for full-size trucks and SUVs.
Jon Jacobs completed their Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering at the University of Michigan from 1988 to 1992. Jon then pursued a Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering at Purdue University from 1994 to 1996. Following this, they attended the University of Michigan's Stephen M. Ross School of Business from 1997 to 2001 to obtain their MBA, specializing in Corporate Strategy & Finance.
