Site Design Project Engineer - Renewables at Westwood Professional Services

Matthew Burge, P.E., ENV SP has had a diverse work experience in various engineering roles. Matthew currently works at Westwood Professional Services, where they have served as a Site Design Project Engineer for Renewables since January 2023. Prior to this role, they were a Project Manager from April 2022 to January 2023 and an Assistant Project Manager from March 2021 to April 2022. Matthew started their journey at Westwood Professional Services as a Project Engineer I from November 2019 to March 2021.

Before joining Westwood, Matthew worked at Slater Hanifan Group as a Project Engineer I from November 2018 to November 2019 and as a Graduate Engineer III from September 2017 to November 2018.

Matthew also gained valuable experience as an Engineering Intern at GCW, Inc. where they worked on improvement plans, tentative maps, and exhibits for various projects. At GCW, they designed sewer, storm drain, and water networks, as well as drainage berms and channels. Their internship lasted from July 2013 to September 2017.

Matthew's earlier experiences include working as a Lab Technician at NOVA Geotechnical & Inspection Services from April 2012 to February 2013. Matthew also served as an Assistant Baseball Coach for the Del Sol Varsity Baseball Team in the Clark County School District from November 2009 to November 2011, where they were praised for their role model qualities and teaching students valuable life skills. Finally, they worked as a Laborer at CG&B Construction in June 2008.

Matthew Burge, P.E., ENV SP began their education at the Colorado School of Mines in 2008, where they pursued a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering. Matthew attended the institution for one year before transferring to the University of Nevada, Las Vegas in 2009. At UNLV, Matthew completed their Bachelor of Science in Engineering with a focus on Civil Engineering in 2013.

In terms of certifications, Matthew obtained their Engineering Intern (E.I.) certification from the Nevada State Board of Professional Engineers and Land Surveyors in May 2013. Matthew then went on to acquire the Envision Sustainability Professional certification from the Institute for Sustainable Infrastructure (ISI) in July 2016. Finally, Matthew obtained their Professional Engineer (PE) certification from the Nevada State Board of Professional Engineers and Land Surveyors in September 2018.
