Dr Suresh Gairola

Dr Suresh Gairola serves as the FSC India Country Director at the Forest Stewardship Council™ since July 2021, advocating for sustainable forest management and certification. In addition to this role, Dr. Gairola is an active member of various organizations, including the Commonwealth Forestry Association and Wetlands International South Asia, promoting forest and wetland conservation. Dr. Gairola contributes to scholarly work as an editorial board member of the Indian Journal of Forestry and Forest Ecosystems. Previous leadership includes serving as Principal Chief Conservator of Forests for the Government of Maharashtra and Director General of the Indian Council of Forestry Research and Education. Dr. Gairola holds advanced degrees from prestigious institutions, including a Ph.D. in Forest Management from the Forest Research Institute and a Post Graduate Diploma in Environmental Law from the National Law School of India University.
