Alex Lalonde, CFA

Alex Lalonde, CFA has a diverse and extensive work experience spanning over two decades. Alex began their career as a Senior Associate at PricewaterhouseCoopers Securities in 1999. Alex then joined Cognicase as a Financial Analyst, specializing in Mergers & Acquisitions.

In 2004, Alex moved to HSBC Commercial Banking, where they served as a Senior Account Manager until 2008. Following their tenure at HSBC, they joined BMO Financial Group's Corporate Finance Division as a Director, responsible for sourcing, structuring, and negotiating commercial credit facilities.

In 2012, Alex transitioned to CIBC, where they held various leadership roles. Alex served as a Director and Team Leader for both the Mid-Market and Independent Business divisions, overseeing financial operations and providing guidance to their team.

In 2017, Alex joined the Financial Services Regulatory Authority (FSRA), initially as a Senior Manager and Group Head of Credit Union Regulation. In this role, they actively managed relationships with credit unions throughout Ontario, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and facilitating new business activities. Later, they took on the position of Director, contributing to the organization's shift towards a more principles-based regulatory approach.

Most recently, in 2020, Alex joined WFCU Credit Union as the Vice President of Corporate Risk Management, where they are responsible for overseeing risk management strategies and ensuring compliance within the organization.

Throughout their career, Alex has demonstrated a strong understanding of financial services, risk management, and regulatory compliance. Their expertise and leadership have been valuable assets to the organizations they have worked with.

Alex Lalonde, CFA obtained a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation from the CFA Institute in 2008. Prior to that, from 1996 to 1999, they pursued an Honours Bachelor's degree in Business Administration with a focus on Professional Accounting at HEC Montréal.
