James Yang

James Yang is the current Director at WFYI Public Media. Prior to their current role, James served as the Director, IT Strategy, Security Governance, Risk & Compliance for CNO Financial Group from July 2016 to August 2018. James was also a consultant for Openwave Systems from February 2001 to January 2004, during which time they helped stabilize Sprint’s mission-critical wireless messaging service. In 2006, James began working for Cummins Inc. as their Director - Cyber Risk & Disaster Recovery; a position they held for 10 years. While at Cummins Inc., James coined the Business Criticality Driven IT framework which won the #1 spot of CSO40 award in 2014 by CSO Magazine and was recognized by Gartner as “one of the more advanced framework in the industry." Before their role as Director, James served as Sr. Remedy/Web Developer for Cummins Inc. from January 1999 to February 2001.

James Yang has an MBA in finance from Washington University in St. Louis - Olin Business School, a master's in information management from Washington University in St. Louis, and a bachelor's in computer information systems from Purdue University. James also has certification from FINRA in Series 65 Investment Adviser Representative, (ISC)² in Certified Cloud Security Professional (CCSP), (ISC)² in Certified Secure Software Lifecycle Professional (CSSLP), and (ISC)² in Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP). James is also certified by the Project Management Institute as a Project Management Professional (PMP) and by Oracle as an Oracle Certified Professional, Java 2 Programmer.
