Phillip W.d. Martin is a Senior Investigative Reporter at WGBH since January 2010 and serves as a regular panelist on the program Basic Black, which addresses social issues affecting communities of color, particularly African Americans. Martin has held the position of Shorenstein Fellow at Harvard University Kennedy School of Government from September 2022 to September 2024 and was an Adjunct Professor at the Heller School of Public Policy at Brandeis University from March 2010 to May 2016. Previously, Martin was the Executive Producer at Lifted Veils Productions, Inc., focusing on societal issues, and supervised editorial content for Tavis Smiley and News and Notes at NPR West. As NPR's first Race Relations Correspondent, Martin reported extensively on race and domestic conflict. Early career highlights include serving as Senior Producer for BBC-PRI's The World and as National Projects and Communications Director for Oxfam America. Educational credentials include a MALD in International Human Rights Law from The Fletcher School at Tufts University and a Nieman Fellowship at Harvard University.
