Thom Barthelmess

Thom Barthelmess is an experienced library professional with a focus on youth services. Currently serving as the Youth Services Manager for Whatcom County Library System since July 2015, Thom oversees programs for infants, children, and teens across a diverse geographical area. Previously, Thom held the position of Curator at the Butler Children's Literature Center at Dominican University from July 2009 to June 2015, where responsibilities included teaching in the Graduate School of Library and Information Science and managing a collection of children's literature. Earlier experience includes managing youth services at Austin Public Library and coordinating services for the Spokane County Library District. Thom holds a Master of Library Science in Children and Youth Library Services from the University of Pittsburgh and a Bachelor of Arts in Fine/Studio Arts from Grinnell College.
