James Wheatley has a diverse work experience in the marketing and media industry. James is currently working as the Marketing Director at WhistleOut since March 2021. Prior to this, they worked at Procter & Gamble as the Senior Brand Manager - Media from October 2017 to March 2021, leading P&G media operations across Australia and New Zealand. James has also worked at Virgin Mobile Australia, where they held various roles including Marketing Manager: Media Strategy & Innovation from May 2015 to October 2017 and Marketing Manager - Digital Media Innovation from June 2013 to May 2015. Before that, they worked at Mindshare as the Digital Associate Director from September 2010 to June 2013, where they managed accounts for Volvo, Tourism New Zealand, and Castrol. James also had a trip to China, South East Asia, and AustralAsia during a traveling sabbatical in 2010. James started their career at MediaCom Interaction as a Digital Planner in September 2006 and eventually became the Media Manager, leading a team of 5 with major UK brands. Prior to that, they worked at Starcom MediaVest Group as an Account Exec and Planner Buyer from July 2005 to September 2006, handling clients such as Procter & Gamble, Continental Airlines, and Porsche. James began their career as a Consumer Insight & Planning Assistant at McDonald's Europe Ltd. from September 2004 to June 2005 through a contract role.

James Wheatley attended Northallerton Grammar School from 1998 to 2000, where they obtained A levels in Media Studies, History, and German. From 2000 to 2004, they pursued a BA Honours degree in Marketing and Film & Media Studies at The University of Stirling. In 2002, they participated in a study abroad program at the University of Kansas, focusing on marketing and media studies.
