Marnie Whitelaw has had a long and varied career in sales and marketing. Marnie began their career in 1984 as an Advertising Sales Executive for BW & Talented Friends Inc., where they were responsible for representing a full service commercial art studio in a highly competitive market. In 1993, they moved to CSG - Communications Systems Group as a Marketing Manager, handling all aspects of marketing for industrial video distributor in Michigan, Ohio, Kentucky and Indiana. In 1997, they began working as a Freelance Writer/Career Coach/Sales Training/Motivational Speaker for Interchanges Le Tour du Monde, doing sales coaching, training and placement consulting, as well as writing and proofreading periodical articles, brochures, newsletters, technical manuals and catalogues. Additionally, they worked as an Expo Manager/Advertising Sales Representative for The Big Idea Magazine, where they managed over 250 B2B advertising accounts for a bi-monthly magazine and facilitated and managed the region's first ever Creative Expo for suppliers within the advertising industry. Finally, in 2007, they joined White Toque as a Sales Representative, where they were a key player in the development of the Midwest office for Specialty Food Importer to foodservice and retail environments, and had proven success in the management of distribution channels, including direct sales to national large volume end users and manufacturers, surpassing quotas. Marnie also participated in regional and national food shows.

Marnie Whitelaw completed their Bachelor's degree in Theatre - Directing from Western Michigan University. Marnie then went on to Wayne State University, where they completed coursework and Teaching Certification in Secondary English Education.
