Chris Grant-Saunders

Chris Grant-Saunders is a seasoned mining engineer with extensive experience in both technical and leadership roles within the mining industry. Currently serving as a Senior Mining Engineer at Whitehaven Coal since January 2023, Chris previously held the position of Principal Mining Consultant at MEC Mining, focusing on mine planning, design, and execution for large open-cut operations. As Tech-Services Superintendent at Yancoal Australia Ltd, Chris led a multidisciplinary technical services team, overseeing various functions including mine planning, geotechnical analysis, and production scheduling. Chris began the career as a Graduate Mining Engineer at Golding Contractors Pty Ltd, gaining foundational skills in production targets, financial reporting, and client relations. Chris earned a Bachelor of Engineering in Mining from The University of Queensland and completed schooling at Brisbane Grammar School.
