James McNamara

James McNamara is a seasoned tax professional with extensive experience in federal income tax advisory and compliance across various industries, including retail, manufacturing, energy, and software. Currently serving as a Tax Partner at Whitley Penn since September 2025, James previously held the position of Tax Principal at BDO USA from November 2021 to August 2025, and was a Tax Executive at EY for over two decades. James began the career journey as a Tax Staff/Senior at Ernst & Young and progressed to a Senior Associate at BDO USA, LLP. James holds a Bachelor of Accounting degree from the University of Oklahoma, earned between 1991 and 1995.
