Desmond Hughes

Desmond Hughes has an extensive career in transportation and emergency services, currently serving as the Director of Transportation Services for Wicomico County Board of Education since October 1999, overseeing the operations of 149 school buses that transport approximately 12,500 students annually. Prior roles include Specialized Transportation Specialist, where Desmond acted as a primary contact for parent and community concerns, and Driver Instructor, providing training and evaluation for school bus drivers. Earlier experience includes forensic investigations for the State of Maryland-OCME, contributing to the establishment of a 911 center as Assistant 911 Director, and serving as ALS Coordinator with Hurlock Volunteer Fire Company. Desmond holds a Dual Masters of Science in Management, Public Administration & Organizational Leadership from Wilmington College, along with a Bachelor's in Organizational Management and an Associate degree in Secondary Education and Teaching.
