Maxwell Couture, LMHC-QS, serves as the Director of Outreach Services at Women In Distress of Broward County, Inc. since June 2016, where responsibilities include directing and implementing programming related to advocacy, vocational education, housing, and therapeutic services. Previous roles at the same organization include Senior Outreach Services Manager, Family Services Manager, Residential Therapy Manager, and Child & Family Therapist, focusing on family services and trauma-informed care. Additionally, since February 2019, Maxwell operates Couture Counseling, LLC, providing therapy services, with a specialization in trauma-affected children and families. Academic experience includes serving as an Adjunct Professor and Graduate Administrative Fellow at Lynn University from January 2014 to August 2017, contributing to substance abuse prevention education, and an internship as a Mental Health Counselor at the Association for Community Counseling. Maxwell holds a Master of Science in Applied Psychology/Counseling from Lynn University and a Bachelor's degree in Psychology from Florida Gulf Coast University.

Women In Distress is the only nationally accredited, state-certified, full service domestic violence center serving Broward County, Florida. Our mission is to stop domestic violence abuse for everyone through intervention, education and advocacy.We strive to accomplish this mission through a 24-hour crisis line, emergency shelter program, individual counseling, support groups and professional trainings which are aimed at educating the community on domestic violence. Our confidential services are offered free of charge to victims of domestic violence no matter their age, gender, race or socio-economic status.
