Anne-Karin Nesdam

Specialist Counsel at Wikborg Rein

Anne-Karin Nesdam is a Specialist Counsel, doctor juris at Wikborg Rein's Oslo office and is part of the firm's Petroleum and Energy practice and the deputy leader of Wikborg Rein's gas dispute team. Nesdam specialises in international arbitration and has acted as counsel in several institutional and ad hoc arbitrations in the gas sector, mainly representing gas buyers. She has broad project management experience as the cases she has assisted on are extensive, includes disputes where foreign law is the substantial law governing the dispute and involves several legal teams in various jurisdictions as well as experts in various fields. She previously worked as a Legal Adviser at the Legislation Department of the Ministry of Justice and Public Security, and was responsible for the areas of transport (i.e. the Maritime Act), insurance (i.e. the Insurance Contract Act), private international and company law. Through her work at the Ministry of Justice and Public Security, she also has extensive experience from work at international organizations as IMO and UNCITRAL as well as participation in international negotiations. Nesdam has a doctorate from the University of Oslo. Her doctoral theses analyses the use of Policy and Legal Instruments in EU's secondary energy market legislation to create an open and functioning energy market through third party access to gas pipelines and power grids. During her time at the Faculty of Law at the University of Oslo, she lectured in petroleum law and authored several articles within this area of law.
