Tanya Payne

Grants Manager at Wild Animal Initiative

Tanya Payne is currently the Science Team Coordinator at Wild Animal Initiative since January 2024. From January 2020 to December 2023, Tanya served at UNEP-WCMC in various roles, including Programme Officer, where responsibilities involved management, monitoring, and evaluation of the GCRF Trade, Development and the Environment Hub and other projects. Previous positions include Impact Officer, contributing to the UNEP-WCMC Impact Measurement Framework, and Associate Project Officer for complex interdisciplinary conservation projects. Tanya began their career at UNEP-WCMC as a Monitoring and Evaluation Intern, supporting several GCRF initiatives. Earlier experience includes serving as Earth Optimism Marketing Assistant at the Cambridge Conservation Initiative. Educational qualifications include an MSc by Research in Biological Sciences and a Bachelor's Degree in Zoology from the University of Exeter, alongside studies at Monash University.

We conduct original research, connect academics from diverse disciplines, and hold calls for proposals to fund the most promising projects. We are a fully remote organization.
