Bastiaan Dijk

Bastiaan Dijk is a dedicated zookeeper currently employed at WILDLANDS Adventure Zoo Emmen since August 2021, where responsibilities include caring for animals in the Polar Bear Bay, African Savannah, and Asian Elephants sections. Dijk has gained diverse experience through internships at various zoos, including an internship as Head Zookeeper at Safaripark Beekse Bergen, where involvement in animal transports and veterinary procedures enhanced knowledge of zoo management. Dijk's academic background includes a Master's degree in Behavioural Ecology from Utrecht University and a Bachelor's degree in Animal Management from Van Hall Larenstein University of Applied Sciences. A graduate thesis focused on evaluating the endothermic animal collection as a foundational step for developing an Institutional Collection Plan, emphasizing conservation, education, and research. Additional experience includes work as a Fruits & Vegetables specialist at Lidl Netherlands since November 2016.
