Mariana Montoya

Mariana Montoya currently serves as the Director for the Wildlife Conservation Society in Peru, a position held since April 2013. Previously, Mariana held roles within the organization as Scientific Director and Senior Advisor, as well as an Environmental Consultant, contributing to the development of the Integral Monitoring Program for the Tambopata National Reserve. Other experiences include work as a Social Specialist for the Fundación Para el Desarrollo Agrario, where a Public Investment Project for the Forest Conservation National Program was developed, and as a Teaching Assistant at the University of Texas at Austin. Mariana's earlier career includes serving as Freshwater Program Manager at WWF and Natural Protected Areas Supervisor at INRENA. Educational qualifications include a Ph.D. in Geography and the Environment from the University of Texas at Austin, an M.Sc. in Ecosystem Management from Universidad Autónoma de Baja California, and a Bachelor’s degree in Biology from Universidad Nacional Agraria La Molina.
