Peter Burgess

Peter Burgess is a distinguished Professor of Sedimentary Geology at the University of Liverpool, where Peter has served since April 2016 as Head of Discipline in Earth Sciences. With extensive experience in both academia and the petroleum sector, Peter has held editorial roles, including Associate Editor for Basin Research and Editor for the Journal of Sedimentary Research. A former Head of Department at Earth Sciences, Royal Holloway, University of London, Peter's research encompasses seismic and sequence stratigraphy, stratigraphic forward modelling, and petroleum system evaluation. Prior positions include roles as an Exploration Geologist at Shell and as a Regional Geologist and Carbonate Specialist. Peter completed a D.Phil in Earth Science at the University of Oxford and possesses advanced degrees in Computing & Earth Science and Geology.
