Ruth Abdey

Ruth Abdey has extensive experience in human resources, holding various leadership positions in multiple companies. Ruth currently serves as the Chief People Officer at Wilmington plc since November 2021. Prior to this, Ruth was the HR Director at Arriva Bus (UK) from October 2017 to November 2021. Ruth also worked as the Head of HR at Argos from November 2013 to September 2017 and as the Group HR Director at Sportingbet from September 2011 to June 2013. Ruth's earlier experience includes roles such as HR Director, Head of HR, Senior HR Business Partner, and HR Projects Manager at Misys from 2004 to 2011. Ruth started their career as an HR Business Partner at NTL (now part of Virgin Media) from January 2003 to September 2004. Ruth also worked as an HR Consultant at Vodafone from 2000 to 2003 and as an HR Assistant at Nalco Chemicals from 1999 to 2000.

Ruth Abdey has a BA in Management & Organisation Studies - 2:1 from Lancaster University. Ruth also holds an MSc in Human Resources Development with Distinction from the University of Portsmouth. In addition, they have a PGDip in CIPD from the same university. Prior to their university education, Ruth completed their GCSE and A levels at Stamford Endowed Schools.
